First Nottingham number plate comes up for sale
The very first number plate issued in Nottingham will be offerred for sale by auction this month.
The registration number is AU 1 and was first issued in 1903 , the same year S 1 was issued.
S 1 was recently auctioned and brought nearly £400,000, AU 1 is expected to bring a more reasonable £80,000.
AU is the chemical symbol for gold and the registration number was used on the villain's car in the bond movie Goldfinger.
Bonhams will be conducting the auction at Olympia, London.
Another bond related lot in the auction is the Lotus used in the film "The spy who loved me".
