Ulster drivers spend £770k on cherished number plates
Figures recently released suggest that Ulster motorists spent over £770,00 on cherished number plates in 2008.
This figure represents only the registration numbers bought at auctions held by Wilson's and include such exclusive numbers as MCZ 1 at £4500 and VLZ 1 at £4000.
There is no figure for motorists that bought from DVLA in Swansea and from dealers both in N.Ireland and Gt Britain.
The most expensive cherished number plates sold at one of these auctions was BIG 1 which fetched £80,000.
Previous expensive auction numbers include LEZ 1 at £61000 and DIG 1 at £50,000.
In England the number 1 RH recently attracted a winning bid of £196,000 which equates to approximately £245k after commission and taxes.
The registration number S1 also recently sold at a private auction for almost £400,000
