Number Plates Donor.

The term " Donor" refers to the vehicle which is having it's registration number removed, i.e. it is donating it's registration number.
Donor is usually used when referring to a vehicle to vehicle transfer and the other vehicle is usually referred to as the " Recipient".
Donor vehicles usually require tax and test to be able to take part in the number plates transfer, although if the vehicle has been put on Sorn, it may still be possible to transfer the number.
If you have a log book, whether V5C or old style but do not have the donor vehicle, you will not be able to transfer the registration number.
When an application is made to transfer a registration number off a donor vehicle, there may be a request to inspect that donor vehicle to verify the chassis number etc is correct.

If you have any questions regarding any of the above , please contact us by email or telephone.

Just a quick note to thank you for your efficiencies on effecting the plate transfer. As you indicated the paperwork came through very quickly and my wife is now cruising round happily with it on her car.
